Why is my car failing to start in the cold weather?

Cooler weather can cause problems with car batteries due to damage that has accumulated during the summer months! High temperatures may speed up plate corrosion and cause electrolytes to vaporise faster.

In winter, when the battery is colder and the motor oil is thicker, your battery may no longer be able to turn the engine

That's the time to think about a new battery, especially if it's 3 - 4 years old. However regular checks and general vehicle maintenance will prolong the life of your battery.
